Default Is it a Tremec or a Borg Warner?

Howdy, Just purchased another pony for the corral. this one is a 88GT with 347 stroker, edelbrock intake, luneti cam, etc and what was suppose to be a Tremec tranny. Was under the car for the first time couple of days ago and noticed that the trans is stamped Borg Warner on the left side towards the rear. Does Borg Warner make Tremec trans or cases for them? Or did I just get taken on the tranny? Thanks, Great site!

Thought that might be the case. Kinda bummed about it as the stroker AND the Tremec was what interested me in the car. It does have some other goodies that I can tell just by looking. Edelbrock intake, 70 mm, single stage flowmasters with cut-outs, 5 lug axels (supposededly Moser), stubby B&M shifter, dual plate clutch(?), pony rims with wide Kumo tires and a tach w/shift light. Everything else is just ok, screwed up or funky. Oh well, what's a fellow to do.

i done some searching around and i seen somewhere that some trannies were made by b-w originally but now made by tremec instead. that could be the case with yours

Borg Warner transmissions are now owned by Tremec Corp, however, the design remains unchanged between the two transmission lines.

Sorry its not a tremec

instead of double posting ill edit this again. Just looking at e-bay also i see that it seems most everyone is selling tremec transmissions. One shows a close up and says borg warner on one side and tremec on the other? I would think that its not a tremec its just made by them otherwise they wouldnt put the borg warner stamp on it. Looks like you need to find that data tag of the tranmission and do some more research. Let us know what you find out, anyone else have any input im just interested.

I'll check with Tremec in the morning and post what I find out.
