How much lift are the stock valve springs good to?
As the title says. I may be putting my cam in to knock out part of my HCI this weekend, but if the valves will float w/ a B303 (.480" lift), I don't want to take the risk. If they will float on a B303 I'll just wait until my GT40Ps are ready (which will probably be June) with new springs to put it in.

they wont bind, but they will float at high rpms. at exactly what rpms they WILL float at im not sure, and can depend on how weak your springs actually are.

Thanks for the reply 77...do you think it'd be safe to do? I'll go easy on it. I'd really like to get this part of the HCI out of the way. I've got two days with nothing to do this weekend, so I want to do something productive.

I wouldn't trust your stock worn out springs, why go that far and run stock springs? That things going to run out of steam in the upper rpm's. Get new (stiffer)springs.

back when my car was stock i had valve float a little after 5000 with a stock cam. like someone said it just depends on how wore out they actually are. i'd be careful or just short shift it
also i would get some 1.7rr for the b cam and get a little bit more lift out of it
