I've got 3.90s with my AOD, they're alright, but I regret not going with 4.10's. Plus the 4.10's are cheaper.

nope sorry, you'll be unhappy

i'd check your door tag first, if you have 3.27's you'll hardly notice it and unless your on wet pavement it won't break them loose. (ax code = "e") z=3.08, m=2.73

i've had 2 aod cars, i don't like 3.73's in 5-speeds and the 1st gear is overwhlmingly huger on a 5-speed.

3.35 compared to a 2.40, multiply that by rear gear and you see that a aod needs 4.10's to equal a 5-speed w/ 3.08's

will it be better ??? yes

but an ethiopian chewing on a rotten cracker is better than dirt so thats hardly an argument (i know some hard core aod will guy will try it)

i have daily driven 2 stangs now w/ 4.10's and 2 w/ 3.73's

4.10's will get you 21 mpg if your cool

I really wouldn't go with the 3.73's dude, hell, even 4.30's would be nice if you do a lot of city driving.

The thing is that im a college student and its my means of transportation most of the time...sometimes I use my mothers 6 cylinder stang. but for the most part I like driving mine. Im gonna check the side of my door to see what I have like nitrous bob said and then debate on 3.73 or 4.10s cause if i have3.27s I may go 4.10.

Gas mileage isn't all that bad with my 3.90's and 4.10s wouldn't make that big of a difference, hell I get a tad over 18 mpg with the 3.90s, big stall, cam, full bolt ons, etc.and some other motor mods and I'm untuned.

you cant fairly compare the manual's and auto's internal gear ratios. its apples and oranges. the auto has the ability to do a thing called "torque multiplication". im not tryin to b a smart @ss or persuade him to go with a certain gear or anything, just throwin it out there

I went w/ 3.90's for my 93 GT BUT the only reason I did that was because I plan on boosting in the future. If I didnt plan on boosting there no doubt in my mind I would have 4.10's or 4.30's in a heartbeat. The 3.90's are nice but for NA I would of went bigger. Highway driving it what you need to consider though... I never highway drive in my car. I see like 2,400 at 65-70w/ my 3.90's. Also, I went from 2.73's to 3.90's and did not see a drop in gas mileage at all........ NOTHING. And the gas mileage difference between 3.73's to 4.10's is very minimal.
