Ok I'm about to get myself a new tranny here fairly soon because my T-5 is nearly shot and I'm stuck as to what tranny to get. The T-56 offers the new advantage of 6 gears to play with (sounds fun to me) but can't take an excessive amount of power/torque (rated to 440 torque). The TKO 600 offers a nice torque advantage (being rated to 600 torque) but is still just a regular 5 speed.

My question is, which of the two would you get, why, and to anybody that's done either of the swaps, how did it go, what did it cost (shop wise), and are you satisfied with the swap, also any advice about extra parts for both, or modifications needed for both would be highly appreciated.

i would go with the stronger tranny incase u upgrade you dont want to have to buy another tranny

There is no "IN CASE" this car will be upgraded to around 400 rwhp soonish, and that's "IF" and I mean "IF" I don't get an S/C within the next year.

id def go w/ the t56 especially if you have gears so u can bring ur rpm down for better gas mileage
and its rated 650 lbft

Damn, the Viper trannylooks like a good tranny, but it's a little more than I really wanted to spend, but it looks damn good.

Any other thoughts?

the extra gear with the t-56 isnt worth it, I bought a tko 600 and couldnt be any happier they come with a 26 spline input, which the stock t-56 doesnt, the tko has better syncro's, and trust me its not just a regular 5 speed
