V6 to V8 engine swap
Hey. i recently purchased a 95 V6 mustang 5 speed. I wrote off my old 86 mustang GT even though it was still drivable... but i went out to the salvage yard it's at today and actually found it. It's in the exact same shape i left it. i asked what they'd charge for just the engine they told me 500$ and they'd take it out. So if i bought back my 86 5.0 would it be hard or stupid to put in my 95? what all would i need? and would i need the transmission or would the stock 5 speed on the v6 be able to handle that engine? I'd like ro purchase it as soon as possible and possibly learn on it by slowly rebuilding it. Also i remember that the 86 has true flat top piston's or something. would that be worth doing? If anyone can tell me what they think and if it's a back idea. I know the engine and it still ran amazingly fine for the km's it had when i had it.... and i have another 86 v6 that supposedly has a 5.0 auto transmission. once again if anyone has any questions i forgot to give information about or ideas please post.
Edit: Also i the engine in the V6 has like 275k Km's (it takes a few seconds to start, 5.0 was easier to start)on it and i don't know how much longer it's gonna last so i'd just like to use it until i get the 5.0 rebuilt.

RE: V6 to V8 engine swap
If you can do the work yourself then go for it. Im just about to finish mine this week. im doing the identical swap except the motor im using came out of a crown vic cop car. i got it for practically nothing with only 30,000 miles on it. the transmission will work, i didnt switch mine. it would be all done right now but i am about 1,200 miles south of where my car is this week i do love vacation. the biggest PITA is the computer and stuff. that is why i chose to run a carb. much simpler that way. im not positive about the longevity of our v6. my head gaskets blew around 80,000 miles or so that is what started this whole project but everyone on here knows how that goes.
