Default why wont it fit

im soooooo close. the engine is in the car its resting on the mounts but it needs to slide back about and inch and it wont budge...we tried jacking up the tranny a little, lowering the motor everything we can think of.....any ideas

You sure you got the engine mounts on the right side? You can bolt the left mount to the ride side and vice versa.

yeah they are on right...plus its the bell housing thats seperate from the tranny about an inch...maybe less

Try unbolting the tranny and bellhousing completely. That's what we had to do to get my buddy's motor to sit right. Tighten up the mounts, then reinstall the bellhousing and the tranny.

is there anyway around unbolting the tranny...i tried changing the mount before and the exhaust was in the way...plus the bellhousing is on the motor not hte trans

i rolled hte car a little bit and something deff isnt meshing right...what shouild i do

the pressure plate is holding the trans from seating tight.

you can draw the trans to the motor by just tighteneing the bolts, or w/ the motor in the car, i just have someone press the clutch in til i get a couple bolts home. thats how i always do a clutch

unless i read you wrong and i'm way off.

is the input shaft going into the splines correctly, or are you binding them up? hand spin the crank very slowly back and forth and see what happens.

Pilot bearing could be damaged and not allow the two to completely mesh together..just a thought, but I know when a buddy bought a motor from another friend of ours, it was in a 5spd car and when we went to put the motor in an aod car we forgot to take the pilot bearing out and it did the same thing you describe.
