I run no cats and I've got the TFS 1 cam, it smells horrible of gas/exhaust fumes.

my car doesn't smell at all. no cats.

i had a fuel smell before i replaced my tank. i didnt find any leaks in the tank, but who knows. maybe the seal for the sending unit or pump was no good. smelling gas doesn't necessarily mean your leaking. there's lots of vent hoses and whatnot.

Its not quite as strong as I may have lead on, it doesn't make my eyes water or anything just a noticable odor... My buddy that sold the car to me said that the pump would have to be changed when I bought it, but i'm trying to hold off for that horrible chore... I know it needs to be done but, there is really no easy way to do it...

If it's not that strong but noticable, then check your A/F ratio and check your O2 sensors (which can also screw up your ratio.)

Would that effect the engine performance as well?

yes because its not gettin the right amount of fuel

Well if you were running too rich it could cost you power. But if you run too lean it could cost you your engine. The trick is to get it just right

While you're under the hood playing and looking around, might as well advance your timing a few degrees to take advantage of some free HP and TQ. I know it's unrelated to this problem, but it's fairly quick and easy to do and if you are looking for performance (judging by your last question, you are.) then it's a great free mod.

I just hate messing with the timing...
