Default compression ratio for boost

what is the maximun compression ratio that u can safely run a supercharger ?what is the pushing the limits the pistons that i just bought other thread are 9.7 to 1 can i run boost on this or am i stuck with nitrous?

ya i am runing a very mild set up. I have a vortech v-1 @ 5 lbs. and just got my motor together. I'm running 7.5 to 1 compression. It runs great, but iam thinking about milling my 63cc chamberGT-40 heads down to up the compression a little. It feels the same as my last motor that was runningsame set up at 8.5 to 1.... but no track time yet for verification. still breaking in the new slugs. later man.... (i'd shoot for 8.5 to 1) anything higher and race fuel is needed........ Im trying for a supercharged engine efficient enough for ethanol or regular unleaded, using lower comp. We'll see how it does come dyno time with the ethanol and regular uinleaded tests.

you can run boost on a 10-1 engine, it just limits
how much much you can do.

I plan on 10-12psi on intercooled turbo with 9.5-1 compression
should be fine.

adding an intercooler will allow more more boost too
or water meth injection.

There is more to figuring compression then just the pistons.
What are you engine specs and I can tell you what it really is going to be.

+1 its not that you cant run boost on a higher compression ratio engine... Just look at turbo deisels they run higher compression us gasoline junkies. You just need to be careful with boost and high compression on a Spark Ignited motor, you dont want that mix igniting before your at the critical point of piston rotation... Read a little on internal combustion mechanics you'll understand why...

are you searious??? why the hell would you run such a low compression motor? with only 5psi of boost im sure your sc'd motor with a 7.5:1 compression ratio probably makes the same hp as your n/a motor with 9:1 compression with the same supporting mods.

i run 9.7:1 compression with 9psi of boost but i also spray methanol

Id never go above 9 to1 without some kind of intercooling, but you shouldnt run high compression ratio with a boosted car anyways, you will make more power by keeping the compression ratio lower to a pointbecause then you can run even more boost and will always equate to more power then a little bit more compression, and you will have less trouble with detonation. A car with 8.5 to 1 with 15 pounds of boost with make more power in most cases then a car with 9 with 10. 1

my car will have about 10.0:1 to 10.5:1 is that to much for say 6-8lbs of boost?
