Converting a rear seat to fit 3 passengers.
My wife is wanting a fox body but we have 3 kids, twins that are 8 1/2 months and a 2 1/2 year old daughter. I was wondering if I could maby have a custom seat made for the back and attach a 3rd seat belt or maby take the rear seat from an LTD or something and make it work. anyone have any knowledge or input please let me know.

Not a good idea. I wouldn't put my kids in a safety risk( jerry rigged seatbelts). Get here a mini van for transporting the kids. Then when she feels the need for speed throw her the keys to the 5.0 and you watch the kids. Then she can go get wound up driving the stang and come home and unwind on you if you get my drift.... Hmmmmmmm it would be a tight fit regardless.... two people is bad enough as it is. Im sure it can be done, anything can be done. But just a little FYI: seatbelts are expensive as hell and for you to get a custom setup made would be expensive. Mounting new seatbelts, completly custom rear sear, mounting it, you would also have to modify the hatch carpet since its connected to the back plate of the rear seats. Im sure there will be some other things but those are just the basics. Than Im sure you would have to have it certified or something to have it pass inspection...

With a 3rd kid on the way, I was wonder aboutadding a 3rd rear seat belt too... I agree with others in this thread, that it's probably not a good idea unless it can be done safelyas 88BlueGTjust described.[sm=smiley13.gif]

Good luck trying to get that to fit. My 2 1/2 year old is in a booster seat and my daugther is still in the "baby seat" and there is barely enough room for those back there. We drive the car when my step son is gone to his dads house and drive our station wagon (04Durango) when we he is home. Even in the Durango it is a tight fit with 2 booster seats and a baby seat so I don't think you will ever get enough room in the car.

Itotal undersand were your coming from CompOrangeHatch. This is why I have 3 other cars outside of my stangs. The Blazer & Taurus do the family hauling while the suped-up Neon (27 mpg) is for commuting to work 75 miles a day... Unfortunatly you gotta justtake the stangsout when you need a breather from family life. That's what I do now...
