autocross
ok so i went out autocrossing today. man was it awesome, first time for me. pushed the stang to its limits.... and past lol. found out alot about what the car can take and what i need to do. its amazing how alot of people want to get so much power out of their stangs, but the stang is lacking in suspension alot. I mean for drag racing you dont need as much suspension, but you would be amazed how much suspension will help evena drag car. My car is basically stock, with only the stuff listed in my sig and It had horriblebody dive and body roll. I didnt expecting much, but it was definitely fun, and now i know what parts i want to ad to the stang to make it handle like a dream.

RE: autocross
first off i will have to disagree with you on one thing. ALOT of drag racing is suspension, whether people know this or not its true. A stock mustang with just suspension work can easily hit 12s. So to in drag racing suspension doesnt matter as much is foolish.
Secondly, i would recommend you get subframe connecters, upper and lower control arms, and 10way struts all the way around. I dont know much about springs so im sure someone else will recommend those for ya.

RE: autocross
going from driving the goat to the lx i feel about the same way. everyone complains about the handling o it and i say the handling of the lx doesn't even compare. i want to do the autocross in the lx. what's a good rear gear for that? currently i have a 2.73 nascar gear.

RE: autocross
im not sure, i run 3.55 which are a good gear, but i still had to shift to second on what i would consider a small track. In my opinion a better choice would be for me to run something like a 3.73 or a 4.10 and just keep the car in second.

RE: autocross
I have 3.73's and had 3.55's prior to that. IfI had to do it all over again, I would have stayed with the 3.55's. I was drag racing the car too so that's why I went with the 3.73's. I run solo II courses, not the big tracks like the pro's, which is probably what you did. Our parking lot is pretty big so we are able to set up some good straight aways. On a decent straight away I have hit the limiter a few times with the 3.73's. I go in 2nd and stay in 2nd the entire time. The 3.73's have caused me to go into third because of all the rpm's. The 3.55's did not and I still had good accelleration. I never go back into 1st once I have started, with either gear.
