I don't really understand how doing a burnout is all that hard on your car. Getting them spinning is the hardest part, after they're spinning its easy to keep them going. Maybe I'm misunderstanding something, but I would say dumping the clutch in a race (with slicks) is way harder than spinning them. I think as long as you load up your clutch a little first it cant be all that hard on the car but again maybe I'm missing something...

when i had my 87 GT hatch, AOD, i did a 1 & 1/2 minute burnout in a gas station parking lot. three hours later, on the highway, 3rd and 4th gear blew up beyond recognition.

it was actually a funny story, the corner there has 4 gas stations, i was across the street at the 7-11, and i came outside to see a civic in the Gulf station parking lot, trying to burn out. His little blue cloud amused me, so I went over there and laughed at their burnout, and they mockingly said "oh yah, you think you can do better?" so i said "yah i know i can", they told me to wait until the parking lot was empty of customers, and i did, and i powerbraked it for at least a minute, maybe not the extra 30 seconds, anyways i was shiftin the tranny through the gears 1-D-1 and all that, totally FILLED that lot with smoke. i stopped traffic at the lights, no one could see. as soon as I could see, i got the hell outta there, lol

after that tranny blew, i could never get that god damned TV cable adjusted properly, and i blew 2 more in 2 months, so i sold the car and got a Wrangler.
