Tach and water temp gauge wiring?
I found an old autometer auto gauge 8 grand tach layin around, and I have an autometer sport comp water tamp gauge. I would like to hook both up. Right now my coolant temp sensor is not hooked up, all it has is a big black wire leading from it not hooked to anything. My temp gauge has a black wire, white wire, and a lil metal tube with sometin inside it, butI can't really tell cuz it seems it's broken off. How do I wire that up?
The tach has 4 wires.. White, black, red, and green. How do I wire that up?

RE: Tach and water temp gauge wiring?
not sure on the water temp but the tach is easy.
red- switched 12v source
black- ground
green- signal wire from the coil or msd box
white- 12v source for the light. (must be wired so that 12v flows only when head lights are on)

RE: Tach and water temp gauge wiring?
It sounds like lucky13 is dead on...I have a new autometer tach and it is the same thing...
I have an oil pressure gauge that has a black and white wire...black is ground, white is for lighting...The other wire is probably where you connect it to your sensor...
I know that Autometer has a line that you can call...When I was making my purchase, they were really knowledgable...check out there site
