Default MGW-HELP!

OK so ive been breaking in my drivetrain considering it is all pretty much new. Well i had it all installed by FORD and it has been driving fine until recently. Last night i drove it to a freinds place and it drove fine. Then on the way homemy MGW started having trouble going into first and third. It was hard to get in and it kept popping out of first so bad that i had to drive it home in 2nd and fourth which were easy toget into. Since ive bought it reverse has also been pretty tough. My question is do you think the installer didnt adjust the shift stops properly? It feels like its not getting a good seat in the gears 1 and 3. Other than that i dont know what to do please help!

It sound like the throw out bearing it messed up.

Mine did the same then I just changed it out and it worked fine after that.

Take the boot off and see where your shift stops are at. Did you just put the shifter in and this is a new problem. Lil more info would be a big help.

Also, if you have a t-5 in your car, they have internal shift stops built into the tranny, so you really don't need the ones that came w/ the shifter. However if your more comportable having them there, the proper way to adjust them is to have the shifter in first, ( for the front stop) run the bolt in til it's just shy of touching the shifter and lock down the jam nut. Same thing for the rear stop.

It turned out to be the bolt was stripped. Bad thread i guess. I put in a new bolt and put on a double nut. It shifts great now

I left my shift stops out, since the t-5 already has them
