Buying the correct piston is building things right......I have to dissagree with you this time. Pistons are made light but strong as possible, take away material on the top and it becomes thinner and weaker there, don't you think the manufacturer would have taken away excess material there if they thought it was safe? Or do you think they thought a heavier piston with excess material was the way to go?

That agruement could be made for every aftermarket modification known. If the manufacturers thought *insert any modification* was better they would have come that way stock. Above all else, cost is what drives manufacturers.
