i vorteched my 302 and added mass air intake throttle body and did a few other mods, and i run mid 11's, be careful with what supercharger u go with from vortech , i would honestly check in with procharger, those do not take as much maintance, BUT IF IT WAS ME IN UR POSITION GO WITH A 351W or a 347 instead of the supercharger

The gt-40x crate engine that puts out 345 horse doesn't have forged pistons so supercharging would not be a good idea

you dont NEED forged internals unless your pushing over 10psi.
it would make you feel better to have em, but i wouldent say you NEED forged unless your running high boost

dude, after building a 331, twice on same block, damn bearings... it cost me 2k BOTH times, first time no assembly charges, but second time i had assembly charges and a crank and other stuff, the list goes on.
heres your choices: a. buy a short block from fordstrokers.com- $1,900, i wish i went that route, and get a 347, get the 16 extra cubes.
or b. get another motor, junkyard or whatever, and turbo the bad boy, and a set of heads and and intake will be more than enough to split the stock block.

Then add the heads/cam/intake combination that you want later on down the road.
I think about reliability first, performance second, if you are speaking of a high mileage driver.

Maybe I am too new when it comes to mustangs, but why not just put a 351 in. Seems cheaper and stronger than a strokered 302?
City motor supply has 351w roller shortblocks for $650

Not to be the enemy of fun on the rebuild and stroke idea for $1200, but I don't think you'd be wanting to re-use your stock heads so the price would be much more.
FWIW, the Ford Racing GT-40 crate motor is a nice engine that is no slouch in performance. If you want the all new Ford motor with warranty and the extra cubit inches, you could get the Ford 342.
