could it possibly be the valves or something in the head? or does the compression testonly do the rings? I just want to know what could cause it to go this bad because it was just done (not by me) picked up the motor from some one who was doing a conversion in thier ranger and gave it up!

RE: just did a compression check!
0 usually means holes in the pistons, especially if its on that many cylinders. Looks like someone got it a little bit too hot.
And a compression test, tests overall cylinder pressure. That includes valves, piston rings, headgaskets, and the piston.
Also, when you did the compression test, how many complete revolutions did you spin the motor?

Judging from those #'s, the engine doesn't run correct? If it does, then you screwed up doing the test.

i let it spin for a good 15 seconds or so. I had just took the cam out and to see what it was and when i installed it back in it was set perfectly dot to dot.

I had similar readings on a car I boosted to 35psi (4cyl), cyl1=0 cyl2=0 cyl3=20 cyl4=0. When the car shut down the number 3 sparkplug wire and boot were of fire [8D] and the turbo was glowing red. It was hot enoug for me to light my smoke off of it [][&o]
