A lot of people don't simply because of the work involved. You have to be creative in making things fit, and a cowl hood is a must. You also need to know your way around engine and trans removal. None of the aforementioned are really that hard, but more than some want to do. Others just don't care to make the amounts of power a 351 is capable of. Me personally? 408....sometime. And a 351 and parts needed costs just as little as a bore/stroke job on a 302.

LTnone-
I agree that there is a certain amount of basic knowledge that is needed before digging into a 351w swap..
However,
A cowl hood will make your life alot easier, but it isn't required... (I point this out because some folks have listed this as their 'deal breaker'...)
For example, I am still using my stock hood with my 408w. I had to use Energy Suspension motor mounts and still needed to shave .700" off the upper intake. I am using a Lightning lower and a Comp Cams box upper. There is NO room to spare, but it does clear...
There would be more room if one used the solid drop mounts, which drop the motor 3/4"
I tried these mounts, but since I wanted to use a large Canton oil pan, it didn't work. I had interference issues between the pan and the crossmember/steering...
We can get the 351w to clear the stock Fox hood, but it does take a little forethought and creativity...

alright so then what year blocks should people be looking for... is it something hard to come by or does it not even matter what year you buy?

351 is 100 more lbs.
can handle 650hp reliable.
i didnt do the swap b/c i dont have enough knowledge to be confident to do it right the first time. i already had my stroker coming along when i discovered the 351 is better.
