can a 302 be fitted to a 2.9l bronco II tranny
i have a bronco II 2.9 4x4 5spd says borg warner some place on the tranny or transfer case, not real sure which. but it has major electrical issues and i want to put a old school carbbed 302 in it to get away from all the electronics.every ranger/bronco forum is dead for posting and getting a response thought some one here might know though

maybe i should say, can i put a 302 infront of that tranny?? i got electrical issues with the 2.9 and i want o run a old skool 302 instead to escape my electrical crap

ok, it looks like a t5, but i heard these came with a number of differant trannys. how do u change an input shaft size? wouldnt u have to tear open the tranny?so basically its a 4banger t5? wonder if it bolts to a 2.3 then. i got all this crap in my back yard!at least the 2 mustangs are drivers

dont put a 302 in front of the 5 speed in that thing it will break it in a hurry they are not rated for high enough tq,

They only handle about 200 ft/lbs of torque and I don't recommend them. The input shaft on these transmissions have a metric spline count of 23. The diameter of the shaft is 1-inch, and it protrudes out from the face of the transmission approximately 9-inches and will require modification. [/align]In 1988, Ford started using a 5 speed transmission with a one piece case and an intrical bellhousing"
