An oil leak isn't going to cause a oil pressure problem. If your oil pressure is dropping severly after warming up you have bad bearings. As the bearings warm they expand and if oil pressure is dropping the bearing are worn enough that they can't keep significant pressure. Also 5psi of oil pressure at idle is bad, my car has around 25psi at idle and 50 when cruising.

would it be a better idea to take out the old engine and pick up a new one with low miles on it??
