Best place to buy remanufactured 302??
I'm looking for just a straight up stock replacement 302 roller longblock. Nothing special, just need it to be as cheap as possible. I would like for it to include everything up to the heads-pushrods, camshaft, timing chain, lifters, and rockers.
Where is the best place to find what i am looking for. I managed to get one off of ebay for 1,100 a few years ago, but i'm not having that luck this go around.
Thanks

Look into advanced auto, or start flipping in the yellow pages of your phone book. I can get a short block for $800 all rebuilt...heads only cost $55 a side to get refreshed if there isn't anything really wrong with them.

i dont know of the reputation, but in my mm&ff mag, Competition Products lists a 0.30" short block for 599.95........800-233-0199. then go to your local salvage yard and pick up some explorer heads(gt40p), and intake, or get the whole motor if you can find one blown(cheap enough to scavenge the parts off of).......you will still come out pretty clost to your budget, i think, and pick up a few (30-40) free horses brother!!!!!!!! good luck in you endeaver........................

I looked into competition products and 599.99 is just for a bare block unfortunately.

yes for quality stock replacement go with jasper. other than that you can go to your local autoparts store and score one for close to a grand, but alot of those companies they use pin and weld heads and weld cranks. i'd keep a good lookout for ebay stuff, or even check the local junk yards for a decent milage 302 from an exploder and just drop it in "as-is".

I would stay away from jasper motors. I've seen a lot of problems with them, badly out of round crank, mismatched pistons and piston bore diameters. The shop I work at just put a customers 350cu in 350hp motor from jasper in there nova. The motor runsgreat but it dynod at 170hp at the wheels through a muncie 4 speed. I guess you get what you pay for though.

if i can just find a roller block i will be happy. We just need to minimize the down time of the car. So, if i can find a rebuilt engine or one that i can rebuild myself then that would be good. Only problem is finding a local block-i am sure there are hundreds of them, but finding where they are is another challenge
