Speed density cars don't have check engine lights...they have a provision in the dash for it, but no wires or bulbs are there. When I did my MAF conversion I found this out.

most autoparts stores will scan your computer for free. check around though, some can only scan OBDII cars.

You can hook up a test light at the test connector under the hood of the car and get it to flash the codes. Chilton and Haynes should have the procedure for doing that. If you have access to Alldata or Ford Diag manuals, they will tell you how to do it.
