Got a 180, 3 row rad, and still usin the factory rad cap. My temp gauge is always at 1/2. When it goes past that its barely.

I honestly dont know which ones you can or cant use. Whenever Ive used one, I just tried to make it so it covers as much of the radiator surface area as possible.
But that one out of a mark8 should be ok. maybe you can get some sort of a thermo fan switch to turn it on and off.
