are these rearends interchangable?

RE: are these rearends interchangable?
Should be able to find an 86-93 8.8 at any stang site. They are complete with gears but no shafts or control arms. Theyll bolt right in. Good luck finding a GT stang in the parts yard. Most ive come across were empty shells, literally.
Check the sponsors here on the homepage and any other stang link you see. youll find what youre after.
I can relate the 82 Cav having no go. I was stuck with an 80s Sunbird as a rental during my last accident. No go, busted side mirror and it reeked of cigarette smoke. Embarrassing as hell. I was happier than a pup with two peters when i got my 5.0 back.

RE: are these rearends interchangable?
The only difference in the rear ends is the axles and brakes... other than that, they are identical. get an SN-95 or new edge rear end and swap out the axles.... DONE!!!!

You need an '86-'93 8.8. '79-'85 only had 7.5 rears.
If you dont mind doing a 5 lug swap with rear discs you can use the later model '94-'04 8.8.

94-98 pushes them out 3/4 on each side, wich is fine if you have the proper wheels, 99-04 are 1.5" longer so i wouldn't even try messing with that.

totally agree, plus theres rims out there with a better offset to put u back in 3/4 of an inch which aint nuthin.
no u wont find a 86-93 rear at most yard, however i see them on craigs list in seattle everyday! they arent rare. get a lsc mark 7 or a t bird rear or a cougar one, not sure the years but the mustang aint the only 8.8 car out there. good luck.4 cyclinder cavalier? i had a 2.8l v6 beretta basically same car that thing would shyt and gitt.try drivin a chevy citation, lol! feel lucky

Use the houseing and your axles and brakes if you wana stay 4 lug.
If it is only 3/4" per side then it really is no different than when I put the LSC Rear disk on my 87. used my housing and the LSC axles and backing plates. Only time I had a clearance issue was with some 15x8 wheels with a 4" backspace and 225/60's they rub the lip of the wheel well a little on hard bumps. With the 94 16" ponys with 235/55 and the 17" GT wheels I use now with 245/45's no problems. Why does everyone seam to freak out about an extra 3/4"? if anything my car feels more stable and corners better.

RE: are these rearends interchangable?
I am using a 88 t-bird turbo coupe in mine and it is 3/4" wider on each side Defiantly changes the look IMO it actually makes it look a little meaner and with the wider stance it will change you center of gravity to a lower point which will positively effect your handling. Biggest problem I am having with mine is getting the brakes hooked up. Converting to rear disk and the input is on the opposite side. So make sure you keep your old brake lines from the 7.5" Fox Body cougars and t-birds will work. There are a several of those in the junkyards around here. I can get a one for $100.00. But if i say MUSTANG the price triples.
