Starter cranks really slow when car is hot

RE: Starter cranks really slow when car is hot
As already mentioned in several posts above. Slow to turn when hot are indications from 2 possible problems, starter or timing advanced too much.
I would check timing to make sure it is okay first.
If timing is okay, I would replace the starter and install a heat shield.

Everyone that mentioned the timing being advanced too much is probably right. I was tuning my 351 couple months ago and had the same problem. I did not tighten the dist. bolt and the dizzy moved. When i got home i set my timing back right and problem solved.

RE: Starter cranks really slow when car is hot
I know you mentioned new battery already, but just fyi on my 91GT I had the same problem. Would start fine when cold but slow crank and/or not starting when hot. I put a new battery in and now it starts all the time. Of course when the engine is hot everything expands and its tougher to turn over. I dont know how new your battery really is, but mine was pretty new also. Replacing it worked.

Take out timing, go slower! DUmb idea, I didn't build a bad *** motor so it would'nt run at its very best.
Solution: Gear reduction starter, BIGGER cables and 900+ cranking amps battery, any one of these will definitly help, all 3 will be the best starting you ever will have.
