get a v8 tranny, the gear ratios in the 4 banger trans are horrible, you will also need to find the proper pilot bearing for that tranny..
not worth it IMHO.. you WILL kill the pos 4 cyl tranny

You will need a different pilot bearing: bca-202SS
If you can't find that part number its a pilot bearing for a 83 ranger with 2.2 diesal

Thanks that was something that I was wondering.

so I take it my auto crossmember will not work with the swap!
ORIGINAL: Vader87
The crossmember from the 4 cyl. is a single hump one & wont work unless you are going to do a single exhaust, not recommended. You can get a fork for your clutch at an auto parts store or Ford dealer.

You can probably use all the wires on your GTauto for reverse backup, Speedo cable, & neutral safety switch. Compare the linkages under your dash for clutch pedal, should be able to use that all off your man. car. You will need a diff computer, not sure if you will be able to use the exhisting wiring to your GTforthe change. I have found one of the easiest ways to see if what you have will work with your change is to call & ask your local parts store if the replacement part # is the same between the two models, in example the reverse backup switch & so on.
