Default lifter question

i have this clikcing noise comming frommy engine and i can only hear it when im idleing, the thing that gets me is the clikcing comes and goes it doesnt stay, so my question is do lifters that are bad have a clicking all the time or come and go ?

add some marvel mystery oil to your crankcase and see if it goes away... one of your lifters might be sticking

So you got that Ford tick huh?

I think the V6 explorer's have it the worst, almost everyone ive ever heard that had over 50,000 miles and some under 50,000 have that ticking sound. I guess its just one of those design flaws/no one changes their oil on time or something.

Most engines its either a lifter as you asked or a ticking rocker arm.
