Default trouble removing "S" clip from differential

Does anyone know a trick on how to remove the tensioned spring in the differential it is really hard to remove and i am afraid i am going to break something if i force it out. is there a special tool or a trick to remove it. I dont know the name of the clip so i am at a loss on how to search for an answer. I have my rear end taken apart and need a way to complete this asap. any help would be greatly appreciated...

you have the pin out right...if so, grab the springwith some pliers and pull it out.

You can pull it out with pliers or bang it out with a punch.

i used the pin and a hammer to drive it out half way, then took some pliers and pulled it.

Well it turns out you have to remove the abs sensors, that are pressed in and cost about $60 each to replace. Live and Learn

On my '92 I didnt have to worry about ABS sensors.
I didnt even want the spring to come out.

Have fun putting it back in. Its quite a pain.
