Default should i do a complete rebuild on a 1986

I have a 86 5.0 with 107000 miles and was wandering if I should do a complete rebuild.. I know the heads on the 86 suck and its also the only year a true flat top was used...Is a long rod 306 a good choice or should I go with either a 331 or a 347? The other question is its speed density should I change over to mass air, or should I try to get a handle on speed density set up?.. I am really torn on what I want to todo.. I bought this to me my DD and have the 06 as my play toy....

a 306 build with forged pistons would be a good idea. you can keep your stock rods and crank...
