Hey guys just accquired 88 lx 5.0. Was wondering what are some good mods to increase horsepower and tourque. Im only 17 so my income is pretty limited but im open to all ideas as my dad will loan some money for any costs in which I dont have sufficent funds. Has 36000 original miles. So fire away with any ideas.

36,000 miles? dayum, thats pretty sweet

but some good basic mods are intake, exhaust, and rear gears. you can get an entire catless exhaust Hpipe to tips, for around 290 bucks

i mean i got a couple grand. overall i was thinking putting new rear gears 3.55 maybe new headers. Would like to get a new bullet proof blaock one kickin out like 375 horse seeing costs 7000 minmum. Talked to a mechanic who has an 88 daily driver has it supercharged with no real engine beefing at all then again there goes 3000. So anything. Spending no more than 5000 total at least this summer always next

man im on the same boat as you. im 17 and just sold my ss and bought a 89 gt. it has some mods but im looking to go all out...gid luck with your stang!!

Recently acquired? huh? make it sound like a baseball trade. Do bigger gears, is it auto or stick? do your whole exhaust, then mb heads /cam/ intake

lol he means taller gears, ie: 3:55 3:73 4:10

get the 4:10 if you want the ultimate punch while still retaining some gas mileage on the highway.
but if you like alot of top end then i would say the 3:73, the 3:55 are just too long for my taste but you might like them.

get 3.73's there a happy medium and 3.55's are kinda a waste you wont notice that much of a difference over stock.

3.73 or 4.10 gears. headers, o/r h pipe, FM american thunder catback But do suspension work also, so you can lay the power. Some UCA and some LCA and sub frame connecters some shocks and a nice tire setup. So if you deicde to do more power upgrades in the future ur suspension will be done and able tohook up.If funds are accsesible heads, cam, and intake. Try a holley systemax 2 or trick flow h/c/i.
