Default safe boost

What would be a safe boost level for a 306 with heads and cam. The compression is 11.5 to 1, I will be running 91 octane since my state has nothing higher then that. thanks

Yo know, I'm not sure I'd run much boost if any at all in that situation. The compression is a bit high and the octane rating isn't as high as I'd want it to be. If I did run boost at those levels, I'd probably run something like 5 - 6 PSI. I'd probably get a water / methanol injection kit to spray into it as well to help with detonation.

The reason why I ask is a car I am looking at on ebay the guy is running 14lb pulley and that seemed high to me. If I do pick the car up I was thinking about dropping the boost to about 8psi maybe?

First of all I doubt you could run 11.5:1 compression on 91 without detonating, and even with a tune it's gonne be slightly on the rich side with almost no ignition into it, if it runs without detonating. You put boost on top of that and you'll prolly blow it up. Some of the newer engines can get away with it because they're designed differently(better rod ratio, smaller bores for more detonation control, better quench, better chamber design etc) but not a 5.0

is this on a dart block? because14lb of boost with 11.5 compresstion is nuts on the stock block. Hope you like running on race gas

14 PSI with that much compression on 91 octane? The only way I see that happening is if he was running some 110 octane or something similar and possibly injecting some methanol.

Also he is running on 93 octane I am guessing. He lives in NM, but I live in CO where it is pretty hard to find 93 octane. Either way any suggestions on a safe amount of boost to run with that high of compression if I do stick to just running 91 octane

run from it as fast as you can..also I may be wrong but that doesn't look like a 14# pulley looks like a 3.15" or so...not a 2.95"...no way in the listing is a fuel management system or even a tuner device..I call major bull4hit on that stang

I also don't seen an intercooler or any form. Unless he has a hidden water / methanol injection nozzle underneath. But if he does then he didn't mention it. Are we supposed to believe that he's running 14 PSI of boost with that compression, no intercooler, and no tune?

It could be the angle of the picture, but that pulley does look smaller than mine and I'm running 10 PSI of boost, so there's a chance that it may be a 12 - 14.
