Hi all, I am fairly new to 5.0's and just bought my 2nd(87 gt t-tops).. It has a nitrous works kit installed... my question is this, if the motor still has stock internals is it safe to run the NOS?
The internal's of the motor will outlast the block.
So you need a higher octane fuel for the bigger the shot you do?
yes, it keeps the motor safe. Highest ive run is 91 octane, and ive been fine. But when I feel like blowing this motor to hell, and hit it with a 200shot, I will use a little race fuel.
(ive never sprayed the motor without at least 91octane in the tank)
is running a second small fuel cell with avgas a decent solution?
A guy I talk to at the track (has a H/C/I 347 on nitrous run's low 11's up here) Has a little fuel tank, like 2 gal, that feed's his nitrous kit. It sit's where his batt. use too. He said its much simpler to run it like that then having to deal with the gas in the tank. But he had it fully set up with its own pump and what ever its called that he can set the pressure and such.
If your really set on using nitrous alot it would be a good invesment I think, but that is a ton of work, and call me a sissy, but I dont like the idea of having a fuel tank that close to my engine.
Id think just a 5 gallon beisde the other cell in the back with its own pump should work.... Just wondering if thats a common way to do it or if theres better, its carbed not efi.
