well, i have a bbk cai and i'm very happy with it but after i got it the members on here told me that i could have just gotten a K&N filter and removed the silencer, i would have see similar gains.

SimpleBolt-ons/Plug Ins:
CAI- C&L Performance- includes bigger MAF housing.

Jet Chip- See Link for dyno results on a 93 5.0 also should firm up trans shifts some as well.

Just some ideas to go with the ones in the posts above.
As for the silencer/K&N . Mine was like that before I got the C&L- big differnce. Take out the silencer for now but a CAI is worth it.

Removing the silencer on any car is a good idea, and you can feel it, especailly with a K&N drop-in (and/or a sawzall speaical intake box enlargement). But if you plan on getting a CAI skip the drop-in filter because the complete intake tract is a nice improvemnt over the stock assembly, and the 5.0's had resrtictve maf housings as well. Performance can be improved in any car by removing the silencer. It was worth 6ft/lbs. torque in an 04 F-150 4.6 according to article in Ford Performance Trucks. Pretty cool for some free power. All factory intake do their best to resrtict noise, which can restrict airflow and utimately power.

RE: which mod next
bbk cai is good because it grabs air directly inside the fender rather than the filter being housed inside the engine compartment.
its a good idea if u have aftermarket headers because they heat up more
