How do I get the coils out? I was tryin for the front last night, and as far as I could figure ya take the nut off the top of the shock tower there, but I can't get it off cuz the whoel shock turns. Theres a slot in the stuf for a flat head but I can't get that nut off and hold the shock from spinnin. Any Suggestions?

How about spring compressors? You wont need to remove anything. You simply clamp them on remove, unclamp. Make sure you tighten the screws evenly on both sides. I did a buddy's 89 GT a while back, I didnt have to remove anything.

I don't have any compressors though. I'd like to do it without buying anything. I know there was a guy on here just the other day that did it without compressers.

Use the rent a tool program from advance or auto zone, rent the tool with a deposit, take the tool back and get all your money back.

Use a strut compressor! I did mine without anything the second time around. Way worth the money for the tool. However, if you are hell bent on doing it without a compressor. You will need a friends and both of you better have a big set of *****. Take the strut off from the top. Yes the strut with spin some just hold on to it. Take the sway bar off and then pivot the rotor over. Take the A-arm bolts off (the two bolts toward the engine obviously). The whole arm should fall, make sure you put a floor jack under it. Everything should be apart. Now comes the hard part. Put the new spring in and hold the A-arm steady as your buddy jacks the jacks up. Once you get the arm close, you will probably need another jack to center the bolts. Reassemble. This way sucks bad! If it's in the budget, get the spring compressor.
