mobile 1 all the way. thats all i use in my car and its great stuff. change the oil every 2k miles and its still pretty clean when it comes out.
Isn't changing mobil 1 at 2k a little excessive?

I always heardthat if your motor had non-synthetic oils its whole life....then you should keep it that way.

Castrol syntec 5w50. And in a 302 the best way to prime the motor, pull out the distributor. Get a 1/4" drive bit for a drill, a long 1/4" extension and I believe its a 8mm 6 point socket. Put it on the oil pump drive shaft. spin it in reverse at full tilt, usually 2500 rpms with most 18V cordless drills. Do that for 20 seconds or so, put the disty back in and fire her up.

thanks Pzero, learned a new thing today[8D] but yeah, the motor is used, pulled running from some fool who wrapped his around a tree or something.... so I got it, got the carbed intake, but it has been drained and kept out of the elements in a sealed container for a few months,

I run Royal Purple in everything that will take oil. In every single mag I read which is over 10 a month they all swear by it.

The reason its $7 a quart is cause someone is raping you[:-]. I'd bet money it barely costs them $3 a quart. At the dealership I work at we sold AMSoil for $9 a quart when it cost me $2.50. ( I work on commision BTW)
Ive used Syntec in everything I drive or drove with wonderful results. After 70K of driving a car like I stole virtually NO wear. Never had any engine part fail.

I dont disagree with you. Who doesnt rape you these days. Whichever oil you've used that has worked for you is the oil your gonna tell everyone else to use.
