Default Is it time for some new tires?

The tires are Firestone Firehawk's. My car has 4:10 gears, aluminum drive shaft, dual friction clutch, full exhaust, CAI, and removed smog pump, no options car (no a/c, power options, tilt, etc.). When my tires get the slightest amount of dust on them they kick out the rear, even when slowly accelerating. Ican get them to spinin 3rd gear. Theynever chirp. People tell me they can smell rubber when they follow meif I giver. Any suggestion for some street/drag radials? The size is 245/50/16. I have also thought of going to 17's but I want to keep my car somewhat original looking. My chrome ponies are flaking and I thought of PonyR's but then I think I need to change to 5 lug.

go with a "AA" traction tire like a Yokohama ES100 or BFG KDWS...both have really good traction for street tires....the other option would be MT ET Streets, but good luck on the mileage out of the tires...

and i am 99.9% sure the Pony R's do come in 4 lug...

Im a bit confused on the PonyR. You mean Cobra R? They come in 4 and 5 lug.
