hesitates only with a/c on
When my car is fully warmed to operating temp, and i drive with the a/c on it hesitatesand takes off kinda slow. But when i cut it off my car runs just fine. What could possibly cause this problem? Thanks

RE: hesitates only with a/c on
Well did this just start because the ac will rob you of horse power when it is on. Have you put a guage on the low side to find out if the system is fully charged, and make sure it is not overcharged as well.

well, the A/C takes lots of power, so dont drive with it if ya want to go fast.
I raced my supercharged 97 f-150 with the A/C on and ran a 17.8, turned off the A/C and ran a 16.3 so it robs lots of power

Turn the AC off, put the car under a heavy load situation (low RPM but high demands for acceleration)
If you have a manual tranny, get the car moving in first and before you hit 1500 RPM shift to 2nd and floor it, it should accelerate smoothly but slow as hell.
If you have an auto tranny, put it into D2 from a slow roll (under 5mph) and accelerate. it should accelerate smoothly but slow as hell.
If you get a bucking or a miss (putt-putt sound) then you probably have a bad plug or a wire (if you have those) that's arcing. I didn't realize I had that problem until it got worse enough where without the AC and under moderate load it started missing and having take-off hesitation. Turns out that was the issue with the A/C lag I was getting too.

Is yourA/C cooling like it is suppose to be? It could be the low pressure switch, these are adjustable.Mine was doing this. If you take the wires off the switch and look down inside you will see a screw in the middle of it. It could be cycling to often once it gets warmed up. Trythis, start the car, put the A/C on max, wide open, pop the hood and work the throttle by hand. bring the rpms up and watch to see if the clutch starts engaging and disengaging rapidly on the compressor. If so you need to adj. or replace the low pressure switch.

RE: hesitates only with a/c on
if it's the original compressor another option is the bearings.
pull the belt off and see how freely it spins and if theres any dead spots or sqeauking
happen to me before, engine would almost stall everytime i hit the a/c due to the fact it was
