Default alternator issues

my 3G bit the dust in my 88 coupe, rebuild it and still am getting 0 volts at the alternator.
decided to just give in and buy a brand new one, and still only putting out 0 volts.

brought it in to 2 auto parts stores and both bench tests say it fine and delivering 15.5 volts and peaking
at 123 amps. WTF? put it back in my car and am getting NOTHING.

thinkin it's a loose wire or something else down the line, it seems as if it needs power to generate power. all the fuses are fine and also checked the fusable links. what wires going to the alternator should have voltage, if any?

sounds to me like you have a wire or connection problem try wiggling the harness or doing what ford calls the wiggle test!!! start the car up and wiggle the harness and when you fing a bad connection you'll hear the alternator kick in and see an electrical surge....turn lights on when you perform this test with car running. that's to say you have a bad or loose connection. I've found many wiring problems this way before.

Hope this helps. The black/orange wire should have power. It is a green wire where it connects to the starter solenoid.

the black/orange wire is fine, it just registers the 12 volts or so comin from the battery
on the main black connector there the 3 wires, green w/red , yellow, and a white with black.

green is just for dash lightsing, and yellow just runs into the main wire which is giving 12 anyways

what the white/black wire do? should maybe 12 volts be going through this to maybe open a circuit
in the alternator to release the voltaeg?
