is a bolt in rollbar any good?
I saw a while back in MMFF, when they were building the Hooligan Hotrod, they installed a Maximum Motorsports Bolt in 6pt roll bar.I wanted to know if these were any good. want to put a 6pt rollbar in my car for safety and t-tops are a bit flimsy. anyone running one? or would I be better both bolting it in and welding it, or just getting a weld in.
note, this is going into a street car that will see little track time (4-5 times a year maybe)

yeah, I got a laugh outta that awaiting approval too.
I was looking at the cage with the removeable door bars, I think it was 400 bucks...but I was gonna wait till next summer to get one, school is starting up in a month, and I go from working around 12 hours a day 5 days a week to about 2-3 days a weekfor 4-6 hours plus I gotta get the damn thing running, registered and insured again before I do anything else.

Those bolt-in's are NOT legal for drag racing.
So it depends on what you mean when you 'track 4-5 times a year'............

I've never had a problem with it. If you have a vehicle with an OEM frame then you must have it welded in. However, we have unibody cars and they say that it doesn't count as a frame...even if you have subframe connectors.
From the IHRA rulebook:
All vehicles with OEM frame (i.e. pickup truck where body
bolts to framerails) must have roll bar welded or bolted to frame.
Installation of frame connectors on unibody cars does not
constitute a frame; therefore, it is not necessary to have the roll bar
attached to the frame. Unibody cars with stock floor and firewall
(wheeltubs permitted) may attach roll bar with 6-inch x 6-inch x
.125-inch steel plates on top and bottom of floor bolted together
with at least four 3/8-inch bolts and nuts, or weld main hoop to
rocker sill area with .125-inch reinforcing plates, with plates welded
completely.
