Kinda pointless to go with that big of a cam, they dont flow enough to need it. Whats the duration?FWIW, late model 302 and 351w heads are the same. Whats the rest of the combo?

.550 is too much. An FRPP B cam with a nice set of 1.72's would work very nicely with those heads. Something around the .500" lift range with 280*/290* duration. The E5 heads cant flow any more than that, and since the carb you need tons of duration. So no E cam.

PS: 351W heads usually have 351 cast into them.

if you change the cam you need to match the springs or else there won't be enough spring pressure to keep the valves closed at higher rpmand you'll never get max rpm before valve flutter occurs the fool who did my 85 motor originally used stock springs with an e cam and it would never reach max rpm it broke down at higher rpm bad I took out springs and matched them and now it revs to the max

you can reuse your stock roller lifters but yes you will need to match springs to the cam you choose. most manufactorers of cams will tell you what springs or rate is needed. as for the cam yes choose one for the h.o motor there are tons out there all the h.o motor cam is is a cam that carries the 351 firing order. just make sure it's a roller cam with the proper firing order... as for the choice of cam I'll leave that up to you as too many people on here will have their opinion on that!!

p.s... you can get the springs from where ever you order the cam usually like say you buy from summit racing ... they will have the springs you need. or vice versa from where you buy the cam.

i'll give ya the low down cause i read until all the casting numbers were posted and then i skimmed cause im lazy.

from mid 70's and up 302 and 351w heads were the same, with the 351w heads having the head bolt holes drilled larger into the casting. thats IT.

E5AE heads are identical to D8OE heads which have large chambers and lower compression.
E5TE heads are identical to E7TE heads which have smaller chambers and hihger compression.

port design and flow are the same for all of the above listed heads. the only heads that were different were the E6SE swirl chamber heads which suck for high RPM power cause the valves are shrouded byt hte heart shaped chamber - however they do make ***** of power off the line.

Out of all the 351W heads, the one's marked C9 or D0 will work the best.
I'd try for that set thats posted above from e-bay.
I've been told more than once that those castings are very simialar to the GT40's.......
