New Tranny Question
Ok. I just got a brand new tranny in my stang. It has not been driven at all to my knowledge except to get gas and back to my house. I know there are break-in miles but my problem is that in gear (especially 3rd) it tends to shake...a LOT, in lower RPM's. When I put my foot in it or shift up to 4th it stops. Could this be part of the break-in process? and its a lot tighter when im trying to shift, also is this part of the break-in process? thanks.

p.s. If you bought it new, did you try calling the place and asking them?

RE: New Tranny Question
When you say shake do you mean just a vibration you can feel in the shifter or its shaking like its not all the way in gear. I'd check all your shifter bolts and make sure they are tight. If its just vibration you feel in the shifter I wouldn't really worry about it. 5.0 mustangs aren't the smoothest cars on the road, lots of vibrations and creaking from them.
Also newer trannys are normally a little tighter going into gears. It will smooth out the more miles you put on it.

RE: New Tranny Question
it is tough going into gear and i figured it would get easier with more miles, but when I say vibration I mean the whole car, my seat, the steering wheel, etc vibrates. It seems to do it at low RPM's. I'm really not worried about it cause its one of the best transmissions you can buy.

RE: New Tranny Question
first off, tought going into gear sounds like the clutch cable isnt tight enough. If you just had a new transmission put int, you should have had a new cable put in too, cause over time they stretch. Or get an adjustable with a firewall adjust to get it how you want it. 2nd - the vibration - did you get a new clutch? what about your flywheel turned? give us more details. A worn flywheel/clutch disc with a new trans could cause bibration. Last time I swapped a transmission, it vibrated from 1800-2200 rpm only. drove me nuts. I pulled out the used trans I replaced the old one with, put on the flywheel form the old trans, and then the vobration went away. The only explanation I or anyone can come up with is that the clutch disc wore the flywheel in such a way that the off balance of one complimented the other.
