what stock clutch do you recommend???
I may be changing out the clutch (and rear main, and 5th gear synchro) but I wanted to know what you guys would recommend. Completely stock, will never powershift, will never do any clutch drops etc. I may get on it once in a while. I want a soft pedal, smooth engagement, and good overall drivabilty. I don't care how long it lasts as I only drive ita little over 2Kmiles a year.
I was thinking aSPEC stage 1, RAM oem, or a LUK. My ranger came from the factory with a LUK ( and they verified that they provide them for the assemly line at Ford ) and I think it does very well in it. I have replaced the one in the Ranger with another LUK from Pep Boys and it is doing just as well... it had't gone out, but the slave went out so scince the tranny was out I had it replaced and resurfaced the flywheel.
Ihave read some bad things about theKing Cobra.
Any and all suggestions are welcome...

Don't let the brand make up your mind. Not all Valeo's are the same. Not all Ford Racing clutches are the same.
It's the base pressure that will determine the pedal effort. If you have access toa clutch shop, they can measure it for you.
I had a King Cobra clutch in my car when I bought it. Pretty sure it had Valeo stamped in it. The pedal pressure was high. Not so high I couldn't push it but heavier than stock. It was 2400 lbs.
That same clutch shop that measured it for me sold me a new one that was 2300lbs.
My car is stock and ran 102mph. It's more than enough clutch. If I did it again I'd probably go lower.
Have a Centerforcein my 87 Ram. Similar power to the Mustang but alot heavier at 4000lbs. It really impresses me with it's clamping pressure. No scientific way to tell you about the power of the clutch but it easily lays down rubber in 3rd and will tow a 6000lbs trailer. Here is the beauty of it. The pedal is so light I can easily push it with my hand.

dont get the spec... or man up and get the spec... i have one, GREAT clutch, handles anything i throw at it... but its harder then stock, and enguagement is sort of sudden, not like your looking for.... if ur car is stock, and on a street tire... not to mention 2k a year, and easy driving, i'd only get the spec because its only 200 bucks, and the others may be more...
dnt get me wrong spec is a great clutch, but its not for you. personally i wont get another brand clutch again, im sold
