Bringing this back... I ran a 14.66 @ 95mph with a 2.187 60ft...

I want to make sure i'm making the right decision here... I'm going to go with the lentech manual valve body... 4.10 gears... edge 3000+ stall... and a tranny cooler...

Should this strip over a second off my 1/4 time? I'm going to go to the track again on Wednesday and I think the car may have more in it...

Anybody want to set me up with some install instructions and let me know how hard the manual valve body will be to install and how about the torque converter as well? If anybody has some detailed instructions on install that would be great, but how is the install? I did my H/C/I so i'm thinking I can handle the tranny...

-Jeff
That will probably take a good bit off. I did a 14.56 with a stock motor and 3.73s. I had a few tenths to go after that too.

If you guys wanna talk 5-speed vs Automatic, talk to iceman! He just went C4 over his 5-speed! If you do the swap to T5 from AOD the costs are more than just tranny costs! Pedals, clutch, cable, etc. Put some quality parts in your AOD before you smoke it and it won't need rebuilt for a while.

its not too uncommon for the aod's to suck bad. i had one in my 347 stroker and was doing 13 9's i took the aod out and put in a c4 with a 3500 stall and can now do 12 8's now thats also with the addition of drag radials but the tranny is making the bigger improvement aod's suck

LOL, of course a built C4 is going to be better than a stock AOD.

FWIW, this guy has a Lentech AOD and runs 9.3 @ over 150mph. That's with the 17in wheels too.

Which is a reason why I want to keep my AOD... The only thing is my 1-2 shift is getting really firm and gives me and my passengers whiplash sometimes... I haven't done a tranny flush and haven't put a fresh filter in since I got her but it's just the 1-2... but there is plenty of tranny fluid... I don't want to get all these things and have to buy a new tranny... There is an AOD I can buy for cheap from the guy I bought the car from and it has a shift kit in it...

I think I will try my AOD and flush the tranny and everything first... but anybody have info on installing the manual valve body and stall?

Do you already have a shift kit installed? I have the Transgo shift kit and when I'm driving normal it does that on the 1-2 shift, it's not as bad on the 2-3 shift. When you step on the gas it will do a second gear scratch all day long.

stall converter isn't hard just pull the tranny away from the motor enough to drop the other converter and put the other one in. you need to make sure sure it goes all the way in though or you will have a big mess on your hands when you start to drive it. the valve body should be even easier. drop the oil pan and take all the little bolts away in the valve body should be an 8 mm socket used for that then the valve body will just come out and replace it.
