That sounds really healthy I have the motor out now for the winter and want to change it along with the timing chain. so far the motor has a Edelbrock Performer 5.0 EFI Intake, Msd 6AL ,MSD blaster coil ,March Performance under drive pullys a/c ELIMINATOR smog ELIMINATOR, bbk cold air ,bbk70mm THROTTLE BODY 73mm mass air ford raceing ,headers and H pipe 40 flowmasters The heads are E7 that have 3 angle valve job and ported and polished.

i have the ford racing b303 cam in my car n it sounds pretty healthy, the f cam has more lift but works best with a turbo or supercharger.

unless you change your heads a cam would be a waste of money.....even though the heads are ported they still don't have the best capability to flow well expecially if you still have stock valve sizes in them...you could but a big cam in and if the opening where air enters the cumbustion chamber is still a stock small size it'll be like trying to dump a 5 gallon bucket of water into a funnel .....of course you could have a custom cam made with extra duration which will allow more time for A/F mixture to enter...so all those of you who would mention this ..I just did!!! to give you an example I changed to the f-cam and put ported e7's back in the spring on all at once and my before vs after times and mph were the same in the 1/4 mile = no change at all....that's because I still have the 1.78/1.46 stock valves in the heads........but all the parts except the cam were free so no real loss

I don't think your experience was due to the "1.78/1.46 stock valves in the heads"........

89bulletlx, you could also go to Camshaft Innovations fill the build sheet and have them select the best Comp Cams OTS cam alternative based on your combo ...... or have a custom cam made. iif staying with the stock cam is the best alternative, you'll also get that information.

I think it inaccurate and irresponsible to say that an aftermarket cam will not help at all, like joel said, talk to folks that make them and let them tell you it's useless.

Usually you will find that problems with cam performance is due to mis-application more than anything else.

a buddy of mine has a trick flow 2 cam with ported e7's and 10 to 1 cr, and a knock off eddy intake. runs high 13's but with a mph of over 112 mph, which suggests with some good tires he could be mid to high 12's. food for thought.
