Default Heat shrink for fuel pump swap

Can regular heat shrink be used on an in-tank fuel pump? I want to solder the wires together rather than use a crimp connector, then use heat shrink to cover the solder joint but I was wondering if the standard heat shrink you buy for electronics can be immersed in gasoline without decomposing.

i was curious about this too.

i think fuel is corrosive to rubber. i'm sure someone knows a little more though about this subject.

There is nothing wrong with butt connectors but I wanted to solder the wires together. It's a habit I picked up when I was in the Navy.

Well if you want to solder is, do it. You don't need to heat shrink it. Butt connectors have no heat shrink and they work fine. Solder it. Won't change anything.

There are many kinds of heat-shrink tubing. Some are fuel-resistant, some are not. A quick google search indicates you probably want polyolefin.

I don't trust the crimp connectors because if the hot wire ever came loose and touched the gas tank which could be grounded it would spark.
