Default How can I get my gauges to work (EFI to Carb)

I bought a 95 Mustang that origionally had a 3.8 EFI V6 in it.. but the guy swapped a carb'd 5.0 HO V8 into it. Well, the gauges don't work (except for the voltmeter and I believe the gas gauge?).. Where do those gauges read off of? Did tehy go through the PCM.. and in that case, how do I get them to work.. and if they didn't.. waht do they read off of? Because the car didn't have any of the trans sensors connected when I got it.. would that be the speedometer/RPM?

Help!

you'll need a wiring diagram and you'll have to search for the leads that come out of the original harness in the engine bay I converted my 85 from fuel injection to carb and my 92 4 cylinder to a 5.0 and I just found the leads via diagram and wired them to the sending units and they work fine. however since my 4 banger ins cluster is calibrated for 4 cylinder sending units I had to use 4 cyl sending units so the gauges read accurate mainly that was only for the oil pressure.

So you're saying, find the wires that come from the cluster for each specific thing (speedo, tach, oil pressure, water temp, etc), and wire then each to each sending unit?

What is the sending unit for each one?

I'm mainly concerned about the speedometer and tach.. i'm getting autometer gauges for the water temp and oil pressure..

I already printed that out, but I can't find the sensors he was talking about. I have everything squared away except for the wiring on the cluster.. everything else works great.

I want to get my speedo and tach working.. oil pressure and water temp i dont really care about, since i'm getting those gauges anyway, but it'd be nice I suppose, if it is all gona be hooking **** up.

Those sensors he was talking about.. are they on the harness that hooked into the PCM? Because I pulled that whole thing out..

Speedo doesnt use a sensor, just a cable from the trans to the speedometer. What ignition are you using?

Not the SN95s......they use a VSS sensor w/out the cable attached.....the same electronic pulse used for the ECM, is used to "drive" the speedometer gauge.
