if your sure the new module & coil are both good, and you are sure that you are losing spark, you need a PIP(profile ignition pickup).
its located inside the distributor, underneath the rotor.
requires distributor to come out and be disassembled to replace it.
Would that being out cause the car to also overheat? ANd how much would that cost me?

Also, should I be careful of anything while taking the distributor apart?

just be careful not to damage the gear on the end of it, and dont crack it anywhere. other than that, its pretty simple.

follow the correct procedures for re-installing it and your good to go.

Is there a sensor that shuts the motor off until cool down in a 87? And if my guage was screwed up and acted as if it was getting hot, would that shut it off? Plus when I drive the car then shut it off the temp guage climbs up to the top, most of the time it's when I turn my headlights on when the car is shut off.
1. Reads like you have a missing/bad ground problem.....check the ground strap that goes connected between the rear of one of the cylinder heads and the firewall....if it's missing/disconnected, it will cause higher than normal (but false) temp readings....do you have an overflow coolant problem?....if not, temp is not an issue.

2. '92 TBird/Cougar 5.0L WP was reverse rotation also.

3. To check what's causing the now start, you need to get the car into the condition and do some tests....check the EFI No Start link at this DIY KOEO/KOER/Cylinder Balance Self-Test page....just a thought.
