The computer seems to be increasing my idle for me. I reset the base idle at around 850 and when I pluged the IAC back in it jumped way up to like 1100. I was trying to get it down a bit to take the pressure off the torque converter but if I lower the idle any more with the IAC disconnected the motor wants to die on me

matt- the IAC didn't look too bad, but I have another that I can swap out to see if it makes a difference or not. Is there any way to test these or do I need to replace it to se if that is the problem?
joel- I am getting no cel currently, I did run the koeo/koer tests a few weeks ago and the best I can remember the only thing that was showing up was a lean condition. I forget the code number, but I attributed it to the tb gasket leak I had. I haven't changed the fuel filter since I got it and I have no fp guage to see what my pressures are. Also, I haven't replace the o2 sensors either

2. Lean or rich codes ARE a cause for idle problems......need to fix the codes to correct the idle fluctuations......even a code 67 (neutral/gear switch circuit failure) is in the list of possible causes for idle control issues.
3. KOEO/KOER self-tests are also "confirmation" procedures to make sure the codes have been corrected, need to ignore what happened a few weeks ago, and collect the current situation "data".
Just a thought.

what is the code 67 (neutral/gear switch circuit failure)? This sounds like it makes a little sence to me because it usually acts up worse when it is in gear driving at low rpm's
