i'm gonna guess that you accidently folded the rubber sleeve connecting it to the TB, and you have a good inch wide vacuum leak right there, creating the noise you hear, and causing it to not start.

Well then you are definately doing something wrong. Unless the intake tube has a potato stuck in it, the car should run fine. A CAI will not cause a lean condition, and will not cause the car to back fire or run rough. The reason you are not getting any "good helpful feedback" is because not many people have trouble tightening a few hose clamps. Your problem is one of a kind, which puts either the installer or the product in question.
