shes at the shop now what
ok so i just got off the phone with the mechanic working on my car...their taking out the tranny for a rebuild along with replacing the clutch and slip yoke...while it their im also having him change the gears out back to a 3.73 gear...as far as the clutch goes im going with a centerforce dual friction setup and getting the flywheel resurfaced...since im upgrading everything else he offered to build up the tranny with parts rated for higher horsepowerand change the gearing a little bit for more low end...he said this would cost about $200 to $300 more...what do you guys think...is it even worth it since im gonna have the gears in the rear or should i go ahead and do it while the tranny is out...anything else i should do while everything is out...FYI the guy is a family friend so hes honest and has been a mechanic since the 60's so im pretty sure he knows what hes doin.

throw out bearing, its a b*itch when you forget to do one of those. lol. i noticed from some reviews its seems the concensus is that upgraded internals in a T-5 are worthless, but personally i would do it. espeically since your not spending alot more. changing the internal gearing of the tranny seems like not such a good idea, but im sure someone with experiance would have more input than I. especially since your goin with 3.73
P.S. where did you get the time and money to get this stuff done? i see you decided against my previous honda idea.....good man.

don't know what you mean by him gearing the tranny for low end?? the conversion on those is usually to give it a 2.95 first gear ratio higher not lowerotherwise to gear it low for road race it'd be a lot more than 200.00 by changing all the gears ask him what he's doing specifically???

huh???? 6th is it a t-5 you have??? if so they only have 5 gears.. I'd ask him if he's changing the gear ratios of the cluster and main shaft never seen it done like that before....ask him what he's doing??

well i just got off the phone with the mechanic at the shop and adn it looks like im gonna have to get an all new tranny since the case is cracked...im lookin at the rebuilt ones from astroperformance and thats prolly what ill go with...he also said hes gonna take the car over to his dyno and do a small dyno tune for me on the house...he said he could prolly get me around 30 to 40 more horses...sounds to good to be true
