heads, gt 40 or p heads

RE: heads, gt 40 or p heads
I have a set of E7's and all I can say is that seeing the intake runner at the valve is a LOT smaller than the gt40p's. now thats not to say that yours did not flow well, but your not comparing apples to apples. My concern was that all three heads ( gt40p, gt40, and 69,70 351w heads all haver the same intake runner volume witch happens to be larger than a E7 head. if you look at the link I posted earlier you can see that a powerhouse E7 head flowed really really well. But I do beleive that powerhouse company has a cnc program for those heads to get it there. Now look at the 69 351w heads with port work and they again are higher and out flow. at least I have a larger runner start with for now. I still like the patriot head.

jasper, it was not directed towards you. it was a blanket statement towards the bandwagon mentality 95% of the people on here have. 95% of those 95% have no direct experience with the stuff they talk about, they just +1 and go along with what they have heard from everyone else. its a big *** snowball effect. how many people here have actually had a set of heads apart (even the people who have aftermarket heads, most simply bolted them on or had a shop swap springs). how many people here have actually built a motor? doing a h/c/i swap in the vehicle is not what im talking about. the answer is the majority of the people have not - and that is perfectly fine - but the majority of those very same people will offer advice like they do have the experience. hell, just yesterday someone replied to sheltys post about his 302 being locked up after installation and suggested he shift the tranny out of park because he could only turn it over in neutral.......... i mean, are you f*cking kidding me?
E7's are turd heads, and you can only take so much meat out before you hit water. early w and gt40 heads start off with a lot larger intake runner, larger valves, and in the case of the 40's much better port short turn radiuses. for simplistic terms you can compare a ported E7 to a stock w/40/p head, and it does not take very much port work at all to make the w/40/p heads to flow even better.
so..... whats the hp gains your going to see when swapping a set of ported gt40p's for a set of tf or afr heads? is the small gain in hp worth 1000? it is worth the gain when your starting with stock e7's, but when your more than halfway there that 1000 is not such a good bang for the buck, and that 1000 could be much better spent elsewhere. pick your battles ya know?
